In 2018, AMD released a beta version of new graphics card drivers – AMD Radeon Software Crimson ReLive Edition for Blockchain Compute. The software turned out to be quite successful, as it differs in the number of useful features … Today we will look at the main features and functions of this driver.
The software has a lot of interesting features. Below we list several features of the program that you should pay attention to.
Performance has increased by an average of 20% over 2017 drivers. This is especially good news for miners. Let’s consider the example of games.
Radeon Chill reduces GPU frequency during low workloads while optimizing hardware power efficiency.
The WattMan utility is responsible for safely enhancing your graphics card – overclocking and undervolting. You can also adjust the rotational speed of the coolers – even a beginner can handle it.
The Upgrade Advisor helps you determine if your hardware meets the system requirements of a particular software. It is also relevant for the selection of new equipment and programs.
The rest of the driver is standard. It is used mainly by gamers, but it also performs well during mining.
AMD Radeon Software Adrenalin drivers are very popular not only for gamers, but also for cryptocurrency mining, so we advise you to download the AMD Radeon Software Adrenalin Driver on our website.
Mobile app
Great news for those who like to delegate some tasks to a smartphone: AMD has a good app for iOS and Android. It allows you to play games running on a PC through your phone, as well as connect additional accessories to it.

As we have already reported, the graphics card manufacturers from the AMD camp in particular have become aware of GPU mining. Recently it was even reported that special graphics cards are now to be developed and distributed specifically for mining.
According to our information, however, these should offer a significantly limited guarantee / warranty and will therefore not be sold on the German market for the time being. In addition, with these new mining GPUs, it should be noted that there are no connection options for screens, so that later external use as a graphics card is hardly an option – which of course can have extreme effects on the “residual value”.
A new graphics driver, which AMD presented to the public a few days ago, caused great joy . This is a special GPU driver that is tailored exactly to the needs of the miners and is therefore not suitable for graphic applications and gaming.
The first tests showed that the driver can, depending on the graphics card and the selected algorithm, sometimes reveal an amazing increase in performance. However, the new driver from AMD is mainly intended to ensure that with this driver there are apparently fewer or hardly any problems when mining with the RX Vega , which had some severe problems with the previous drivers when mining.
In addition, the new AMD mining driver should ensure that the performance of the AMD graphics cards does not collapse so much with high DAG files . A problem with which AMD GPUs in particular have had to struggle very hard up to now.
One should note that the new AMD driver for mining (Radeon Software Crimson ReLive Edition Beta for Blockchain Compute) gives AMD the following information about the driver:
This driver is provided as a beta level support driver which should be considered „as is“ and will not be supported with further updates, upgrades or bug fixes.
This driver is not intended for graphics or gaming workloads.
Therefore, this “ beta driver for mining” can be viewed as the final for the time being, since updates or bug repairs can hardly be expected after this announcement. We’re keeping an eye on things, though, as this certainly won’t be AMD’s last driver for GPU mining.
With well-known graphics types from GPU mining, the additional performance due to the AMD mining driver is sometimes rather small . With the R9 380x, for example, the additional power should only be around 1 to 2 MH/s. In addition, some users report that the temperatures can no longer be read out cleanly with the new driver from AMD and that various problems can occur.
According to AMD, the mining driver is suitable for the following graphics cards:
Radeon™ RX Vega Series Graphics
Radeon™ RX 500 Series GraphicsImage source: Willi
Radeon™ RX 400 Series Graphics
AMD Radeon™ Pro Duo
AMD Radeon™ R5 300 Series Graphics
AMD Radeon™ R5 200 Series Graphics
AMD RadeonTM R7 300 Series Graphics
AMD RadeonTM R7 200 Series Graphics
AMD Radeon™ R9 Fury Series Graphics
AMD Radeon™ R9 Nano Series Graphics
AMD Radeon™ R9 200 Series Graphics
AMD Radeon™ R9 300 Series Graphics
AMD Radeon™ HD 8500 – HD 8900 Series Graphics
AMD Radeon™ HD 7700 – HD 7900 Series Graphics
Before using the driver, we strongly recommend checking the AMD website again to make sure that the driver is really suitable for your graphics card or graphics cards. You are responsible for your own actions!
It should also be noted that the new AMD mining driver is only available for Windows 10 and Windows 7 . However, both variants (Win 7 and Win 10) have drivers for 32 and 64 bits .
Overall, we therefore see the new AMD driver for mining as what it is, a beta version which can probably solve the driver problems with the RX Vega GPUs under certain circumstances, but nothing more.
Therefore, as a miner, you should really think twice about whether you should already be using the new driver from AMD or not. We’re more confident running a rig with a little less hash power, but it’s stable and hassle-free.
And, of course, through the program you can conveniently monitor the state of the video card, including through the voice assistant. Which is convenient when mining cryptocurrency in general.
