EthereumPoW: How to add ETHPoW token network to MetaMask wallet?

On September 15, the Ethereum blockchain successfully migrated to the PoS algorithm, and the next day, the Ethereum PoW fork appeared. In simple words, this is the same Ethereum blockchain that continued to exist on the PoW algorithm. And since this is the same fork, ETH holders received EthereumPoW (ETHW) coins in a 1:1 ratio.

EthereumPoW is the original Ethereum blockchain based on the Proof of Work mechanism. Ethereum POW (ETHW) is a new coin that is split after ETH transition to Proof-of-Stake.

The tentative goal of the Ethereum POW (ETHW) division is to create an ecosystem that current ASIC miners can mine and use as a source of income. Many ETHW proponents feel that the ETHW fork has a difficult fate and that using the network can be intimidating due to the lack of growth and testing.

In this article, we will tell you how to quickly and easily add the EthereumPoW (ETHW) cryptocurrency to the top MetaMask wallet.

How to add a new network and token to MetaMask

Open MetaMask if you have it. If not, then download and install the mobile application on your smartphone.

The MetaMask interface is extremely simple and intuitive:

Next, click on the multi-colored circle in the upper right corner and go to “Settings” (the very bottom).

Open “Networks” and click on “Add Network” in the upper right corner.

At this stage, you need to configure the settings. We take them from the official Twitter of the EthPoW team.

For convenience, copy the settings below (copy from tweet):

  • Network name – ETHW-mainnet
  • New RPC URL – https://mainnet.ethereumpow.org
  • Chain ID – 10001
  • Currency symbol – ETHW
  • Block Explorer URL – https://mainnet.ethwscan.com

All this must be written in the fields in MetaMask. Here’s what it should look like as a result:

Here, in principle, we save the new network, after which MetaMask will connect to it.

This is where it starts … the connection failed the first time and MetaMask issued the following:

Re-entering network settings, VPN services and other chips did not help. However, if you read the posts on Twitter, then some investors were able to connect.

For example, let’s add another network. For example, the well-known Fantom. Enter the data and click on “Save”.

Success. Now MetaMask has a new network and the FTM token has replaced ETH in the wallet field.

There are still questions with Ethereum PoW. But if you try, then it is quite possible to add a network of a new fork of ETHPoW.

If you still can’t add a network, you can try using ChainList, which adds networks to MetaMask in a few clicks.

Everything is as simple as possible here: we find the desired network and add it by connecting MetaMask. Here, ChainList will add the network configuration on its own, after which it will be possible to work with the new network.

Good luck with your undertakings and investments!
